Tyrone Heade
is the Cathedral Bagpiper in Residence for St. James Cathedral (since 1990), the seat of the Archdioceses of Western Washington, and St. Mark’s Episcopal Cathedral (since 1993).  He is responsible for developing both residencies.  View his resume or a sampling of his performance clients here.

Playing his Grandfathers' pipe full-time since 1994, Tyrone has become a noted performerinstructor, published composer, and soloist with First Places in Glasgow and New York.  In 2009, he won the World Solo Amateur Championship in Piobaireachd.

Pipe Major of Seattle's Elliott Bay Pipe Band, and leader of the acoustic ensemble Iona Abbey with his Scottish Small (Chamber) Pipes, Tyrone works hard at the development of piping in the Pacific Northwest.  As a voting member of the National Academy of Recording Arts and Science (Grammy's) for over ten years, Tyrone serves on the Celtic Arts Foundation Board of Directors, and has led the development of a world-class faculty for the Mastery of Scottish Arts Winter School since its start in 1995.
